On
Saturday, March 23, 2008, Suzette and I drove from home in Lexington
Park, MD to Jacksonville, NC. We spend the night there. We left the
next morning, Easter Sunday, at 0600 with Herschel, Marguerie, Paul and
Kim in one car, and Raeford, Robie, Marty, Candy and Ally in another
car and Karen, Penny and Mattson in a third car. We drove about 12
hours to Ormond Beach, Fl. We stayed at the
Jameson Inn in Ormond Beach. The next morning (Monday) we met Alice and
Jason for breakfast at Cracker Barrel. Then we drove to Port Canaveral,
FL where we boarded the Royal Caribbean, Sovereign of the Seas early
Monday
afternoon. We sailed that evening for Coco Cay in the Bahamas. On
Tuesday morning, it was determined that the weather would not allow
tendering operations into Coco Cay, so we sailed for Nassau, Bahamas.
We arrived there Tuesday afternoon. On Wednesday, we took a tour of the
Island. We went to the Atlantis Hotel and saw the aquarium there. The
ship departed at 2300 Wednesday night and we went to Coco Cay. On
Thursday, we tendered from the ship to the Island and visited Coco Cay
for a few hours. We returned to the ship and departed that evening for
the return to Port Canaveral. We arrived on Friday morning and debarked
by 0800. We drove about 14 hours returning to Jacksonville on Friday
night. Suzette and I drove to New Bern to visit Diane and then on to
Lexington Park on Saturday, completing
our vacation.
