On
Saturday April 18, 2009, Suzette and I departed Jim's at about 1000. We
took the boat to Calvert Marina and fueled up. We then departed for the
Chesapeake Bay. We rendezvoused with Glen and Regina. They were in
their new boat, and out on opening day of Rock Fish season. Then we
slow cruised south past Point No Point, to Point Lookout, then north
into the Potomac toward St. George Island. At 1530 we docked at Evan's Seafood Restaurant.
We met Jim there and had an early supper. We departed Evan's and went
up the St. Mary's River, past Horseshoe Bend and as far north as
Tippity Wichity Island. We then returned south to a cove at N38 11.470
W076 26.834. We anchored in 15' of water and enjoyed a beautiful
sunset. It was a queit, calm night. We woke up at 0700 Sunday morning
and were underway at 0750. We cruised back south on the St. Mary's
River. We stop and took pictures of the Maryland
Dove at St. Mary's College. We then continued south into the
Potomac, and the turned north into Smith Creek and cruised to Scheible's
Restaurant. We arrived there about 0900, docked and had a great
breakfast. As we walked back to the boat, we met Mr. Scheible, the
owner and had a nice talk with him. We departed Scheibles and cruised
back into the Potomac. Was very calm so we picked up speed to 23 kots
and cruised for about half an hour, back around Point Lookout and into
the Chesapeake. We turned north, past Point No Point and up to Cedar
Point, then west into the Patuxent River. We cruised back into Solomons
and to Spring Cove Marina for fuel. We then returned to Jim's, arriving
abut 1500. The boat worked
great and it was a wonderful
way to start the 2009 boating season.
