On Wednesday, June 24, 2009, Suzette
and I drove to Fairfax and spent the night with Paul and Kim. On
Thursday we drove to South Bend. We spent the night in Granger and had
our "anniversary" dinner at Villa Macri. Friday we went to mom's
house. Dave and Lorraine were also visiting. Friday evening mom made
supper at the house for Brian Shelton and his grandmother, Lois. Brian
is contemplating joining the Marine Corps after he graduates from
college in about a year. Saturday we worked around the house and
Saturday evening we all (Mom, Kathy, Dave, Lorraine, Suzette and
Steve) went to Millenium in Niles for dinner. Before dinner, we took
pictures in the back yard near the flowering crab apple tree that mom
had planted in dad's memory. We had a great dinner together. Sunday
morning, we went to the Bendix Diner for breakfast. When we came home
about 11:30, we gathered and spread dad's ashes near the flag pole,
under the crab apple tree, and in the wild area under the pine trees he
planted when he and mom moved to Quince Road in 1956.
