On
Friday morning, July 3, 2009, Suzette and I left Town Creek for Somers
Cover Marina, Crisfield, MD
(47.8 NM). We departed Town Creek at
0920 and arrived in Somers Cove Marina at 1530. We crossed the Bay and
went through Hooper straight into Tangier Sound, then south to
Crisfield. Trip went well. Bottom/running gear may be fouled and boat
was not performing well, so most of transit made at ~7 knots, with
about 40 minutes at 17 knots. At Somers Cove Marina, we got gas at the
fuel dock, then went to slip E-14. Vinny, Suzanne and the staff at
Somers Cove were very helpful. Facility was clean and very comfortable.
After we toed up and got settled, Suzette and I cleaned up and went to
Waterman's Inn in
Crisfield for dinner. We both had great meals. We
brought desert back to the boat, set up the TV and watched two movies -
"Taking Chance," and "The Changeling." Both good movies. We had a nice
quiet night aboard. In the morning, Somers Cove had a nice breakfast
catered in by one of the local restaurants. After breakfast, we made
ready and were underway by 0820. We slow cruised (1800 RPM/~6.5 knots)
all the way back to Town Creek. Weather was nice with 15 -2 knot wind
from NW. Made part of the return somewhat choppy, 2 - 3 foot waves.
Arrived back at Town Creek at 1655. A great trip. We will likely return
to Somers Cove Marina. A nice stop.
