While
we were in Fredericskburg on Saturday afternoon for Sally's birthday
party, Calvert Marina called and said there was a high tide and the
boat's lines needed re-setting. People from the marina made the
adjustments. Suzette and I returned about 2000 Saturday and went over
to the boat to check. it was riding fine. Went home and checked tides
and noticed that an abnormally high tide would occur at 0150 local
Sunday morning. this was a combination of lunar tide and a high storm
surge caused by wind and rain from a significant storm that passed
through Saturday evening. I decided to go back to the boat and stay on
board over night to tend lines if they needed adjusting. Pictures were
takes very near to high tide at 0150L Sunday morning. Water came to the
bottom of the dock decking. Was an inch short of over washing the
dock. Hideaway's swim platform normally 2' below the dock level,
was 1' above. This was result of a 2.5' surge at high tide which
put water level at +4' from MLLW (See the table)
