USS WASP (Date Released) -- A CH-53 from Marine Corps Air Station New River, N.C., takes off from the ship's flight deck during Riverine Exericise 2001. RIVEX 2001 is comprised of various units from Camp Lejeune, N.C., including staff from 2nd Marine Division, and Naval Amphibious Group-2 of Norfolk, Va. These units combined to form the Joint Mobile Riverine Force command element and hope to enhance the military's overall riverine capabilities.
